The subjects of protection of intellectual property in Russia supports a number of government law enforcement and regulatory agencies, the most important among which are the bodies of internal affairs. These bodies identify, prevent and warn the administrative violations and crimes in the area of intellectual property. Such authorities are delegated to officers of economic crime control agencies, the Centers of consumer market crimes and the administrative law enforcement police department and other departments. Administrative and criminal proceedings in this category of cases is associated with a number of features, some of which relate to the definition of damages caused by infringing the exclusive right.
